IF YOU ARE LOOKING TO ACQUIRE A SISTERSHIP, PLEASE CONTACT THE JMYS TEAM DIRECTLY.

La Tempestad is one of the last Nordhavn 35s ever built, she is hull 22 out of 24.

The Nordhavn 35 Coastal Pilot is a rugged, heavily constructed semi-displacement trawler yacht built for two. The 35 features a room pilothouse that adjoins the saloon and is perched aft of a large foredeck. Her profile is reminiscent of her bigger sister, the Nordhavn 62. The mast is placed just forward of the reverse rake windscreen and a dinghy is precisely mounted on the boat deck above the pilothouse/saloon. The cockpit is completely covered by the boat deck overhang and you can move along both sides of the pilothouse side decks with secure stainless railings in place to transit bow to stern. There is a molded in swim platform with a swim ladder and two cockpit doors, one aft to the swim step and one to starboard.

Entering from the aft deck/cockpit into the saloon/pilothouse you pass through a commercial strength Diamond SeaGlaze Dutch door. The entire interior is lavishly appointed with gorgeous teak joinery. La Tempestad has an L-shaped dinette with fixed teak table to port, a comfortable settee to starboard and a two person built in helm bench forward. All of these seating areas have just been recently re upholstered with ultraleather as well new carpet and window coverings throughout the boat. The helm station forward to starboard is compact and ergonomically designed for easy single handed operation. There is an impressive console of navigation/communication electronics that is logically laid out.   The AC/DC electrical panel includes easy to view digital display meters. The single lever engine control and bow thruster joy stick makes maneuvering in close quarters a synch and travelling underway a breeze.

A fold down chart table is built in to the book case aft to starboard which is ideal for spreading out charts for navigation. The visibility in the saloon/pilothouse is exceptional in all directions.

Proceeding forward down four steps to the lower level you arrived first a the U-shaped galley to port. Directly opposite the galley is an enclosed head with separate shower stall. All the way forward is the expansive master stateroom featuring a huge athwartships bed with access to and from on three sides and a separate reading seat forward. The chain locker access forward allows for easy inspection of the ground tackle.

The interior features excellent lighting throughout. There are hatches and windows in addition to foredeck dorades for superior ventilation. The amount of storage in lockers and drawers throughout is exceptional. Many of the overhead hatches used on the N35 are the same size used on the much larger Nordhavn 57s and 62s.

The engine room is located below the pilothouse level and accessed through a windowed door below the pantry locker providing easy access for hourly engine room checks while underway. The pilothouse sole has a huge removable hatch which lifts up for impressive access to the engine room if ever required.

Aft is a huge cockpit with a full length overhang above to keep you out of the weather. Beneath the cockpit is a spacious lazarette. Inside the lazarette is the hydraulic steering and autopilot gear, the hot water heater and house batteries. There is even a built in storage shelf for stowing replacement fluids or cleaning supplies.

The pilothouse is sided with walking decks outboard, secured with 1.25” stainless steel rails. The anchor well forward is set up for two anchors with dual rollers and a secondary deck pipe. The boat deck above the pilothouse is accessed by climbing up the folding steps on the mast. The painted aluminum mast has a radar platform and an assortment of antennas installed on top. The mast also has two side ladders so you can climb up and survey your surroundings secure in the crow’s nest.

The only exterior woodwork is a richly varnished caprail above the transom protected by a custom canvas cover. Back aft in the cockpit you have access to the lazarette through a huge hatch with gas spring lifts. La Tempestad has a propane Seaward stove and oven in the galley which takes propane gas from the two aluminum propane tanks conveniently mounted in the starboard cockpit sole locker which also features a direct overboard drain. A fresh water hose bib is located aft in the port cockpit locker and a seawater wash down has also been installed.

OWNER COMMENTS:

La Tempestad (formerly Transition) was purchased in the fall of 2013 as the third Nordhavn owned by a well-known Nordhavn aficionado who has enjoyed the trawler lifestyle for most of the last 10 years. The decision to purchase this 35 was made to test the waters after being land locked due to health issues for a spell. After finding 3522 (which was not officially listed for sale) they fell in love with its rugged looks, simplicity to operate and immediately began making improvements on what is already an exceptional yacht. A series of recent upgrades include; tinted window coverings in the saloon, all new carpets (including the engine room), new upholstery, bed sheets and comforter, window blinds and shades and top side wax & polish. Items addressed from the purchase survey include replacement of some engine hoses, belts and fluids followed by removal and cleaning of the engine cooling system. Replacement of the cutlass bearing and repacking the stuffing box was completed in March, 2014. After only 40 hours underway they confirmed that getting back on the water was their required medicine and they are now ready to pursue Nordhavn number 4! La Tempestad is perfect for the existing Nordhavn owner who is done with ocean crossing adventures, but has the desire to remain on the water with a simpler, less costly Nordhavn OR the Nordhavn Dreamer looking for an economical first step into Nordhavn ownership.

ADDITIONAL BROKER COMMENTS:

La Tempestad is a US Coast Guard Documented vessel. All recommended maintenance on machinery and equipment have been completed to manufacturers requirements and this is verifiable through the maintenance logs which have been recorded since day one.. The hull has been cleaned and waxed on a regular basis. Pride of ownership is evident throughout! Please email listing broker for a copy of the build specifications.

La Tempestad is an excellent example of a well cared for, late model second generation Nordhavn 35. Her previous and current owner spared no expenses maintaining and updating this magnificent example of a like new Nordhavn. She is likely the cleanest and lowest hour N35 available. One of the great advantages of the Nordhavn 35 is the ease with which you can truck her overland to explore new cruising grounds. A photo CD with additional images of details is available upon request. Complete maintenance records since day of delivery are recorded and available for inspection.
