You can feel it in the air, the wind is shifting. Even before the recent interest rate hike there were a few signals announcing a change.  Russia vs. Ukraine, home sales cooling, the crypto currency correction, a fading stock market, unsettling weather systems, the gasoline price spike – It’s a long list of effects, all out of our control. On the positive side, travel has opened up and perhaps we are letting our guards down too early, but there is a strong desire to get out and about.  Are you tired of playing it safe and staying at home?

The Covid tide swelled in the first quarter of 2020, creating an unprecedented seller’s market that has held strong for over two years.  What does today’s different tempo mean to trawler buyers?  We feel your patience will be rewarded.

Surely you have noticed that the number of trawler listings is increasing and those trawlers that have been on the market for several months are starting to show price reductions. Now, for the first time since the initial lock downs, the market seems to be trending to slightly favor buyers.  Could this be the transition you have been waiting for?

Timing the purchase of a large asset acquisition like a trawler has always been tricky.  Your life has to be positioned with the desire to go for it supported by your health and an affordable plan. Maybe you aren’t there yet or you are there, but have not found the right boat?  Some waited too long when there were multiple choices because they didn’t feel the urgency to act.  Then everything sold out – it was too late to make a move because there wasn’t much selection.

JMYS has been charging along at a steady clip and we are grateful to have an impressive collection of listings that are priced right and offered by motivated sellers – please take a look below.  If you see something you like, it’s worth checking on it right away.  Availability is fleeting.  You may be surprised to learn that the boat you are interested in is already under contract.

We are at the halfway point for 2022 and, like you, eager to see what is going to happen next. We have anticipated that a buyer’s market would be on the way.  Is it here yet? Your wait may be over….

JMYS traveled to the Cap Sante Marina in Anacortes, Washington for TrawlerFest this past May. The Pacific Northwest graced us with fantastic weather and the event was filled with exciting seminars and contagious energy. With attendees and some boats from all over the world, this show felt like we were back in the swing of things.

Did you miss the event? We wrote a recap article and Jeff filmed a new Dock, Walk and Talk video highlighting the event.

Our new listing, the Kadey-Krogen 58 Tapestry, is a beautiful, salty-looking trawler suited for living aboard, whether full or part time. Jeff filmed a Talk Through Tour of this boat, highlighting the 2 stateroom/2 head layout with a bonus office space. Take a look at Tapestry’s Talk Through Tour and let broker Tim True know if you have any questions!

Steve D’Antonio is a longtime friend of Jeffs and a renowned marine consultant, photographer, and writer. Jeff was able to sit down with Steve in Montana to film a three-part Cruising Conversations series. These three segments cover Steve’s business, his background in the marine industry, and some of the incredible boating trips he has been a part of with clients.

All three videos have been released and are ready for you to watch!

As buyers get closer to the survey phase, they start to wonder what that day entails. What do they need to bring, what questions should they ask, how long will a survey last, who coordinates the necessary personnel? Those are all valid questions, and we have the answers!

Jeff’s latest article in his Passagemaker Magazine column, titled All About The Survey, focuses on the this important step in a trawler transaction. You can read that article below!

Want to see the hustle and bustle of a survey day in action? We created a YouTube video that focuses on the sea trial, haul out and survey of Partida, a 1991 Nordhavn 46. We hope you enjoy this informative inside look at a typical survey day!

Our clients are our top priority, and we believe the strongest endorsement for our business is a happy customer. Here is a note from Terry and Lynn Moren, who purchased their Selene 55 through JMYS.
