YBAA is celebrating 100 years of active support to the boating community and has come up with a commemorative logo. As the industry’s oldest broker association (one JMYS joined in 2014, our first year of business) is YBAA – Yacht Brokers Association of America is an anchor, a constant. Also known as the Association of Yacht Sales Professionals, this esteemed organization was founded in 1920 as the Yacht Architects and Brokers Association (YABA). The association has continually evolved with the times to remain influential and relevant. It’s all about supporting YSP’s (Yacht Sales Professionals).

At JMYS we are joiners, we are followers and we are leaders. We do whatever we can to grow the yacht brokerage industry. We believe in being active members of the associations, not just dues payers.
Jeff has been the US west coast membership chairman for YBAA since 2014 and written articles for the YBAA newsletter.
YBAA created the CPYB program (Certified Professional Yacht Broker) in 2002. JMYS brokers Greg Mustari and Jeff Merrill studied for and passed the test and both have remained current and active ever since.
The “continuing education component” requires a time commitment and Jeff has been an attendee and a presenter in their webinar series.
Last year, YBAA created an east coast Multiple Listing Service in partnership with YATCO.

Confident that the world will return to normal and travel restrictions will be removed, Jeff plans to attend the 100-year celebration YBBA-U events this July in Maryland (July 14 in Annapolis) and (July 16th in Providence) Rhode Island. YBAA University is a great place to interact with fellow yacht sales professionals and everyone benefits from the all-day seminars which will both inspire and inform the members.
