Great Escape is a Kadey Krogen 48 North Sea, designed for the kind of cruising adventures her name suggests. The hull was engineered with comfort and efficiency in mind - featuring a fine entry and graceful “wine glass” aft section that allows her to slice confidently through rough offshore conditions and glide smoothly in calm seas.
Lightning is hull number 21 in the Selene 48 series. She was ordered to accomplish what is most desirable for a cruising couple; two staterooms, dual side decks, stabilization, and thrusters.
Florida is a great state to visit in the winter, and we were lucky to spend a few days of March down in Fort Lauderdale celebrating the opening TrawlerFest for 2025.
Despite a little rain, the Baltimore Inner Harbor was a welcoming venue once again for the final Trawlerfest of 2024.
In September 2024, Jeff flew to Baltimore, Maryland for a two-week residency that started with the Selene rendezvous and ended with the Baltimore Trawlerfest. There are two Selene rendezvous events held annually in the United States – the West Coast event (which was held in May 2024 at Roche Harbor, Washington) and the East Coast rendezvous in Baltimore.
A few weeks ago a mentor of mine, Bruce Kessler, sailed off into the heavens and I’m still feeling the pull of his powerful wake.
