As part of his commitment to the CPYB program, Jeff flew back to Fort Lauderdale to present the Chairman’s award December 7th at the IYBA/YBAA “Summit” a full day long legal seminar with a great collection of industry heavy hitters on the program.
This one-day event was attended by yacht brokers from the eastern seaboard from Florida to Maine (with a few from Canada and the west coast of the US). The content of this legal seminar and the presentation, venue, audience, etc. was top notch.
IYBA president Bob Saxon as MC, kept the event on pace and IYBA COO, Paul Flannery, was a great cheer leader keeping things lively.
During the last segment before lunch, Jeff, along with JP Skov, the executive director of YBAA were brought up on stage and announced Brian Commette, CPYB, of Northrup and Johnson as the 2023 Chairmans award winner. Brian is a past president of YBAA, past chairman of the CAC, and a founding member of the CPYB program. Andy Miles, a fellow CAC member joined on stage for a photo.
The legal seminar program was well run and a lot of great information was shared.
Topics included surveys, insurance, financing, boat donations, it was very comprehensive and incredibly educational.
The event was recorded as a video and can be viewed by searching the IYBA.org website.
It’s not the same as traveling across country for a boat deal, but Jeff enjoyed seeing a number of long-time colleagues who were in attendance and he enjoys this type of events as a great opportunity to network with fellow yacht brokers. Congratulations Brian, this is a well-deserved award.
