2014 was a whirlwind for me and I’m proud to announce that JMYS has enjoyed a very successful first year. Life as a Trawler Specialist has proven to be very rewarding indeed!
I’m very fortunate to have a solid group of friends and boating enthusiasts who appreciate my personal approach to selling and purchasing trawlers. The full launch of my website, www.JMYS.com in September of 2014, has led to greatly increased visibility and provides me with a wonderful platform to express my core message which quite simply is, It’s-Your-Choice.

During my first year I became so immersed in the start up details required to build my yacht brokerage that I had to step away from the quarterly email blasts I used to do. This email is my first formal distribution for 2015 and it is my intention for the future frequency of these reports to be reasonable and timely. I still believe phone calls and in-person visits are the best ways to maintain relationships and keep in touch, but emails are a pretty convenient way to reach a lot of people.
I’m packing up to fly to Florida for the PassageMaker magazine Riviera Beach TrawlerFest where I’ll have the Nordhavn 55 South By West on display and am giving two presentations.
Ocean Navigator magazine has asked me to continue writing more “Dialing-In” your trawler articles; a fun stage for me to share many of the important cruising secrets I have learned over the years.
In April I’m joining my good friend and industry colleague, Steve D’Antonio, for a Trawler Workshop at the Deltaville Boat Yard in Virginia. This event is already sold out, but here’s a link to find out about future events – Trawler-Workshop.
The freedom of being an independent yacht broker has led to some intriguing opportunities. Most significantly I have been invited by Bering Yachts to help them promote their incredible designs. My wife Pam and I flew to their China ship yard in December and I’m very excited to now be their west coast sales representative. Closer to home I have just been elected president of the California Yacht Brokers Association (CYBA) and still managing to find some time to race sailboats with Pam. 2015 is filled with great promise and unlimited potential. 55 South By West
South By West has just completed a wonderful cruise to the Bahamas from her Florida base and after seven years of great times aboard her owners (second owners) now have their sights set on a larger boat. This truly was a watershed hull in the production series as the original owner pushed for major upgrades and improvements with their salesman, Ray Danet, an expert cruiser himself, who was the Florida sales manager for PAE at the time. Arcadia II
