IF YOU ARE LOOKING TO ACQUIRE A SISTERSHIP, PLEASE CONTACT THE JMYS TEAM DIRECTLY.
The Kadey Krogen 58 Pilothouse design is an ideal long-range trawler for an active cruising couple. Tapestry is hull number 09 in the series and a 2005 model year boat with the popular widebody arrangement. She is ocean ready rugged and elegantly sophisticated, a pleasing blend of form and function.
She has been lovingly looked after, regularly upgraded and presents as a much younger looking yacht than her model year designation. The cherry wood joinery, carpet over parquet wood soles, Corian counters, comfortable Ultra-leather upholstery and inclusion of large windows create a very spacious, comfortable, and homey environment for spending extended time aboard.
The interior accommodations on Tapestry are arranged into a two cabin, two head layout with an additional office utility area. The starboard guest cabin has two single beds for visitors. The guest cabin shares the independent head and shower in the hallway forward to starboard and can become en suite for guest privacy. The owner cabin is forward with an island queen berth on center. There are bed stands, built in seats, drawers, lockers and incredible ventilation and light via overhead hatches and outboard opening portlights. The head and shower are connected making this a large and private stateroom.
There are many impressive features aboard and numerous improvements have characterized her ownership. For example; the navigation and communications helm electronics in the pilothouse and on the flybridge were both modernized in 2016.
The essentials aboard include a well-appointed galley with propane stove, microwave convection oven, 22cf refrigerator/ freezer. There are numerous pleasing amenities throughout including upholstery, comfortable wool carpeting and tasteful home furnishing décor.
DESCRIPTION
Tapestry is listed for sale after her owners lived aboard and cruised extensively for over 6 years. She is owned by an experienced yachtsman couple who are a seaworthy team, they understand the importance of keeping their vessel ready to go and “ship shape”.
Located in Portsmouth, Rhode Island, Tapestry is positioned to depart for New England waters or head down the east coast to the Chesapeake and beyond. Maybe a short turn south – cruising to the Florida Keys and then hopping over to the Caribbean? With Tapestry, it’s your call. This vessel is easy to learn how to run offshore, practical, and ultimately capable of helping you explore the coasts and cross the seas from the comfort of a beautiful waterfront home. Please get in touch to schedule a visit to see for yourself and read on to learn more.
Prior to offering her for sale, the current owner has thoughtfully gone through the boat to address normal maintenance issues and to help ensure that all systems are current and will be ready for the next adventurous caretaker. As part of this refreshing, Tapestry had numerous upgrades during the current ownership (see inventory below).
Powered by twin John Deere 6068TFM50 main engines (158 bhp each), she also boasts 12kW and 20kW Northern Lights® generators, ABT® TRAC hydraulic active stabilizers (9 Sq. Ft. Fins), ABT® 25HP hydraulic Bow thruster and is equipped throughout with many liveaboard comforts including a Spectra 24V 400gpd water maker, and five Cruisair® reverse cycle climate control units.
The outside areas include a cockpit in the stern with full enclosures (one set in EZ2C Clear glass and the second set in no see-um screening), a console, sink, and wash-down (hot/cold) shower. The cockpit and starboard side decks are teak. A stately Portuguese Bridge provides safety and voluminous storage, as well as an outside Docking Station to starboard. The foredeck has built in seating with lockers underneath and a Maxwell® 3500 double chainwheel hydraulic windless w/capstan. The boat deck includes a seating area surrounded by textilene privacy/safety screening on all rails, plus a separate tender storage area with chocks for the included AB RIB® 7-person tender with 60 HP Yamaha® four stroke outboard– easily deployed by the Nautical Structures® Euro 1200 (lbs.) hoist.
The flybridge has two helm chairs for side-by-side enjoyment underneath a Bimini top and an L shaped settee with cushions and a table. This is a great location for operating underway (navigation equipment and helm new in 2016) and a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the view once you are settled.
PROPULSION
Main Engines: John Deere model 6068TFM50 diesels producing 158 bhp @ 2400 rpm (M1 rating) coupled to Twin Disc transmissions.

There are three removable stainless staple rails installed for swim platform convenience and aft boarding safety. Shore power electrical connections are conveniently located in the cockpit as well as at the bow. A console with freshwater sink and storage below is also in the cockpit.
The cockpit is enclosed with EZ2See® clear “glass” plastic windows and includes roll-down textilene sunshades, and there is a full set of cockpit screens as well. Flooring in the cockpit is natural teak wood and there is also a hot and cold rinse shower. Entry to the cockpit is as described above but also includes the full-size main entry door from the starboard side deck. The wing door to port from the cockpit is perfect for side access which allows for easy dinghy docking alongside. All cockpit rails are Awlgrip painted teak and are in bristol condition.

The lazarette is a great open space which houses the main steering controls and rudder shafts, and two automatic shore power cable retractor storage containers. There is plenty of room for mechanical spares, supplies and extra gear.
SALON
Entry into salon is through the double aluminum weather-tight doors and opens to a wonderful bright open space. There is an L-settee (sofa) to starboard which is covered in Ultra-leather. Next to the settee there is a cabinet with drawer and vented lower storage and the sofa has storage below as well. Directly in front of the settee is a large hi-lo table with foldouts and ample seating for up to twelve (with additional seating). The salon is spacious due to the wide body design and there is plenty of room for extra chairs or an additional sofa.
The interior walls are of beautiful cherry wood and there are sliding windows to both the port and starboard sides with a cherry valance, screens, blinds, and side window treatments. Flooring is wood parquet covered with a modern decorative tan carpet with design features.
Other salon attributes include a concealed double sliding cabinet in galley wall with lower double cabinets, a VISIO 40” TV/monitor and an overhead safety grab rail for safety during cruising.
GALLEY
The open-faced galley is forward of the saloon on the starboard side. It includes abundant food preparation space atop the Corian counters and there are multiple lockers and drawers for provisions, cook ware, utensils, etc. Tapestry has an impressive complement of appliances to include; Viking Professional four burner gas range with gas oven, GE Profile microwave convection oven, JENN-AIR full-size double door refrigerator freezer, and a Bosch SilencePlus automatic dish washer and Monogram trash compactor.
Other galley features include a Corian countertop with a dual sink with vented storage cabinets and drawers. To starboard there is a side weather door that allows ventilation and access to the side deck (includes a full magnetic screen).
Across from the galley and fully to port there is open buffet with shelving above with drawers and vented cabinets and icemaker below. To the right of the buffet is a larger pantry with storage below and flip-up stair treads.
Moving forward from the galley you can go up to the pilothouse or down a short flight of steps to the lower-level living quarters comprised of two staterooms, an office utility area, Bosch 800 series washer and dryer, two full heads with separate showers, guest stateroom, and owner stateroom forward.
PORT OFFICE and UTILITY AREA
Just a few steps down forward of the galley is a joint office and utility area. The office area has a desktop with keyboard tray, forward shelving, and ample storage to the sides. This area also boasts a wine refrigerator, a chart locker, and custom hidden cabinet for a sewing machine or other storage. Amply lit by dual portlights with screens and the open hallway floor plan – Floor hatch provides access to the mid-machinery area.
STARBOARD GUEST STATEROOM
Across from the office utility area is the comfortable starboard guest stateroom with two separate single guest beds with fitted covers with a single nightstand in between. The port wall has a large hanging locker and two portlights with screens help brighten the space. The stateroom has a private entry door into the full day-head which creates an ensuite cabin for convenience and privacy. Stylish decorative tan carpet adds comfort over the parquet wood flooring.
GUEST HEAD
The guest head is just forward of the port guest stateroom and has center hall access as well as an ensuite guest entry. There is a single sink with vanity above and double vented cabinet below. The head is an electric Tecma fresh water flush toilet and there is a large linen locker on the opposite wall. To the starboard side is a stand-up shower with seat and bi-fold doors.
MASTER STATEROOM
Spacious owner stateroom is forward and has a custom queen-size mattress (Memory foam) with hydraulic lift storage below and step-up access on both sides. The roomy accommodations are
due to use of the full beam width. There is a single hanging locker to port and a large hanging locker to starboard, storage bins to each side of the of bed, a 10-drawer dresser with wall mirror, and an additional six drawers under the bed. Ample lighting with four portlights and two hatches, all of which include screens.
The owner suite hallway door closes to provide privacy and accommodate the ensuite head to port with vanity and vented cabinets below, dual mirrored cabinets and portlight above, as well as a linen locker, Tecma electric flush freshwater toilet and a full shower with bench and bi-fold doors.
Access to the below decks for the front sanitary utility room is through a floor hatch – to the black water fiberglass tank, black water pump, hoses, and diverter valves. Forward of that space through a watertight hatch is the hydraulic solenoids for the Maxwell windlass and bow thruster.
PILOTHOUSE
Forward from the galley and up a few steps is the raised pilothouse which is fully equipped for offshore cruising.
Capable of extended journeys the helm has all of the necessary electronics, updated navigation electronics, and all required safety equipment. Secured from both sides with aluminum welded weather tight “Dutch” sea-doors, both with Phantom screens.
The helm has a Stidd Captain’s chair and directly forward is an oversized stainless destroyer wheel. Directly center are two 16” Garmin displays that are the center of information and control capable of showing navigation, radar activity, sonar, AIS, camera views of the engine room, salon, and stern, and other information. The engines are controlled by a ZF dual lever station that combines forward, reverse, and speed for each engine. In addition, an iPad attached to a I-Bolt adjustable mount conveys and provides navigation back-up. To each side of the helm station is storage in the form of vented cabinets, drawers, and double chart drawers. Directly behind the helm is the L-shaped watch settee with Ultra-leather that also converts to a double berth with storage available directly under the settee. The pilothouse also has dual sliding windows to port and starboard and two rear portlights, all with screens.
FOREDECK
The Kadey Krogen 58 Pilothouse is rugged looking and has an appropriate stature with a tall bow that will cleave the waves and offer a dry ride in most sea conditions. The ground tackle arrangement includes a Maxwell® 3500 double chainwheel hydraulic windlass w/capstan and a self-launching Rocna 70 (154 lb) main anchor. The bow pulpit secures two separate anchors on individual rollers. Shore power connections plus fresh and a seawater washdown provide extra convenience in this area. The deck is uncluttered with two opening hatches above the master stateroom. Forward of the pilothouse windows is the Portuguese Bridge with center access to the foredeck and built-in storage lockers.
BOAT DECK
The inflatable AB model VST 13ft Tender with 60hp Yamaha engine is stowed on the aft boat deck, which is above the cockpit. You can access the boat deck up a few stairs from the port side of the pilothouse or Portuguese Bridge. All areas of Tapestry are accessed by conventional stairs, no ladders involved. With the dinghy launched via a Nautical Structures® Euro 1200® (lbs.) hoist you have a tremendous deck area available to enjoy.
FLYBRIDGE
The raised flybridge is a few easy steps up from the boat deck and provides a commanding view. The helm is ergonomically designed so that all the monitors, gauges, switches, controls/ sightlines are clear. There is an additional helm chair on the port bench so that Co-Captains can both see over the bow. A full Bimini top provides shade and weather cover, and the main mast can be lowered for bridges or tight clearances. There is an L shaped cushioned settee to port with a table in front of it, a comfortable spot for dining, entertaining, or napping!
ENGINE ROOM
A short distance down via steps from the office area is access to the engine room. The engine room door opens to a very practical and well laid out engine room. The John Deere main engines with Twin Disc transmissions can be serviced on all sides. ABT TRAC hydraulic stabilizers with oversized 9 ft. sq. fins are installed forward and outboard. Dual Racor fuel filters for each main engine and generators are positioned for easy access and in the machinery space. There is also a Fuel polishing system to insure clean diesel fuel for nonproblematic cruising. Oil changes have been regularly conducted using the Reverso oil change system, clean oil is supplemented by regular filter changes. To meet freshwater demands, a Spectra 24V water maker is ready for action. The Torrid Marine 30-gal stainless steel water heater makes sure you have ample hot water for all on-board uses. For safety, a Fireboy automatic fire suppression system is mounted and there is an alarm system for bilge high water and loss of cooling water. Engine room lighting is ample providing excellent lighting throughout.
