In the Wake is our archive of articles that have been posted as features on the JMYS home page. Once in print everything is immediately out of date, but much of what we have written about still has some relevance. We have been asked to keep these stories available by many followers who wish to take a short dock walk down memory lane and hope that people new to this website will also enjoy reading about people and events that have influenced our growth. For most of us it is fun to reminisce, and these articles serve as a chronological record of what we have been doing since JMYS was founded.

Occasionally we are able to find and organize previous boating related articles penned by Jeff in other publications, as well as articles that were started and shelved, but still want to be told. These will be completed out of order but will be filed by the date they occurred. So, if you come back in the future to browse, you may find something new from the past!

Jeff wrote a lot of stories for the www.nordhavn.com site during his fourteen year career at PAE and we have most of those available at this link: https://jmys.com/trawler-lifestyle/nordhavn-com-articles-by-jeff-merrill/

Additionally, we do have a separate section for the Ocean Navigator Dialing-In-Your-Trawler stories: https://jmys.com/trawler-lifestyle/ocean-navigator-magazine/

PassageMaker magazine gave Jeff a column, Trawler Transactions, and those articles are posted here: https://jmys.com/purchasing-a-trawler/trawler-transactions/

As demonstrated by our logo, our direction is to keep the bow pointing forward…but it is also fun to pause, reflect and look behind to see where we have been.

Nordhavn 40 Dei Amor – For Sale

June 5th, 2025|

Dei Amor is hull number 9 of the first-generation Nordhavn 40s, built in the United States. This full-displacement trawler is equipped with active fin stabilizers, a Lugger main engine, Yanmar wing engine, and a Northern Lights generator, making her well-suited for offshore cruising. Her current owners have invested in numerous improvements and upgrades over two years of ownership. They have enjoyed their time aboard and are now looking to transition to a larger vessel. The Nordhavn 40 design features a 14’6” beam, providing a spacious saloon and galley. The layout includes a raised pilothouse, two staterooms, and a head with a separate shower, offering comfortable accommodations for extended cruising.
